Family Court Counsellors / Intake Assistance - Application

  • If you are seeking information or assistance about guardianship, parenting or contact applications, Family Mediation Services can assist you at no cost.
  • Our Intake Service provides information and referrals to help you consider the various options available (e.g. mediation, Legal Aid, the Parenting After Separation Seminar or a communication course)
  • If you and the other party are in agreement, a Court Counsellor can assist you in drawing up the agreement and filing it with the Court. (Edmonton & Calgary)
  • If you and the other party are not in agreement, and the matter must go to Court / Caseflow conference, a Court Counsellor can help you with;
    • Completing the form(s) to bring an application in Court
    • Presenting the matter in Court (Provincial Court only)
    • Following up on any directions the Court may issue, (e.g. a referral to Legal Aid, mediation, a parenting seminar, a communication course or any other program or service that the Court deems appropriate).
Court Counsellors are available to assist all parties involved in guardianship, parenting or contact applications. They do not take sides in a dispute, and they do not provide legal advice.
