Announcement from Court & Justice Services (CJS) - Christmas Closure and Filing

Dec 2, 2021
The Court of Queen's Bench Clerk's Office will be closed for Christmas Closure from December 24, 2021 through January 3, 2022, inclusive. On December 29, 30 and 31, 2021 a Justice will be available in Calgary to hear any emergency matters that arise during this time.

The Clerks' Office will not be accepting e-mail filing during the Christmas Closure, and similarly, courthouses will not be open so as to allow access to filing drop boxes or the counters. Filing should be provided to the Clerks' office by 4 pm on December 23rd, whether through email or drop box.

The QB Filing Digital Service will accept filing during the Christmas Closure. The Service currently accepts many general Civil documents to be filed in the Judicial Centres of Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge and Red Deer.  Please note: documents will not be processed until January 4th or later. Counsel are encouraged to
1) sign up for the QB Filing Digital Service located here: https://qb-filing.alberta.ca/,
2) review the list of documents that can be processed through the service (list contained in above link), and
3) submit the allowed documents using the QB Filing Digital Service during the Christmas closure.

If counsel is submitting more than one document, it is mandatory that both documents be allowed in the QB Filing Digital Service; otherwise please submit using e-mail filing after January 4, 2022.

As digital filing lead times are shorter, this will lead to documents being processed more quickly starting January 4, 2022. Please note that documents that cannot be filed using the service will be rejected and will need to be re-submitted using e-mail filing.
