The Honourable Frans Slatter has retired from the Alberta Court of
Appeal.
Justice Slatter joined the Alberta Court of Appeal in 2006 following
five years at the Court of King’s Bench. His retirement was effective August 4,
2026.
Acting Chief Justice of Alberta, the Honourable Dawn Pentelechuk, thanked
Justice Slatter for his 25 years of exemplary judicial service to the justice
system in Alberta and to the administration of justice in this country.
“Justice Slatter has brought a consistently high level of commitment and
excellence to the judicial role,” she said. “All of us have been the principal
beneficiaries of his immense intellect, institutional knowledge and quiet
leadership.”
