    Effective immediately and until December 7, 2020, due to staffing shortages, the Edmonton Review Office will be closed for administrative inquiries (i.e. in-person/telephone/email inquiries and new bookings).   • Jury Selection - COVID-19 Exemptions

    If you have been summonsed to attend jury selection, you may apply for an exemption to the requirement to attend jury selection if: you have health concerns that make you more vulnerable to COVID-19; or you live with or are required to provide care for an individual who has health concerns that make them more vulnerable to COVID-19. An exemption may be applied for by completing and returning the jury summons which was mailed to you to by the Clerk's Office.   • New Form of Affidavit of Applicant for Divorce (FL-23 and FL-24) – Grace Period

    Recent amendments to the Alberta Rules of Court have prescribed new forms of Affidavit of Applicant for Divorce (Form FL-23) and Affidavit of Applicants for Divorce (Joint) (Form FL-24) effective November 1, 2020. It is the responsibility of litigants or their counsel to ensure that, starting on November 1, 2020, they are fully complying with these new forms. However, to ensure continued access to justice for litigants, a grace period will be observed until January 1, 2021 before the requirement for compliance will be strictly enforced.

    The Court of Queen's Bench will resume scheduling Civil, Family and Commercial Trials and full day specials between January 4, 2021 and July 2, 2021. To request a Family, Civil or Commercial trial or full day special, you must complete the Family, Civil and Commercial Triage Form in full.

  • News Release - Jury Trials Resumption

    Jury selection and jury trials, paused since the March 15, 2020, suspension of regular Court operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, are scheduled to resume in off-site locations throughout the province, with the first jury selections having been conducted this morning in Edmonton for jury trials commencing on September 14, 2020. The first scheduled jury trial in Calgary is slated to start on September 28, 2020.

  • Fall In-person and Remote Hearings

    Commercing September 8, 2020, all matters with viva voce evidence including criminal, family and civil trials will be heard entirely in person in COVID-safe courtrooms. If any remote witnesses or video conference testimony is required, the exact date and times of the testimony must be scheduled with the appropriate Court Coordinator at least two weeks in advance. This is subject to resource availability. Remote testimony must still be approved by the presiding Justice but needs to be arranged in advance.
