Effective August 5, 2026, applications for grants of Double Probate and Administration of Unadministered Property, where a prior Alberta grant has been issued for the estate will be accepted in SDS.
By August 21, 2026 GA paper applications submitted by lawyers that include previously issued Alberta grants will no longer be accepted, and must be filed using SDS.
Applications where a previous grant was issued from the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, that require amendments to date of death or spelling of a name are not accepted in SDS, and must be submitted following the Courts process.
There is no requirement to retrieve the original Will.
